Welcome to my Learning Design and Technology portfolio.
I am the Manager of Support Services for John Jay Online, the distance education office at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. John Jay College is one of the 24 independent colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). At John Jay, I am responsible for administering and designing support services and training for various technologies used in the course of instruction, such as Blackboard and Turnitin. I also serve at the college and university levels on advisory groups and committees related to educational technology and distance education issues.
The tagline for this portfolio originated in a conversation I had with Eugene O’Neill, Ph.D. A colleague of mine at John Jay College, I recently consulted with Gene on one of the online courses he is currently teaching. As we were wrapping up, we went off on a tangent about what excited us about distance education. Feeling I was getting a little too animated I apologized, because I was “just an education geek…”
This online portfolio was created in fulfillment of degree requirements for the Master of Science in Education in Learning Design and Technology program at Purdue University (degree expected May, 2013).
